This is a description of how the site is built. It is not a certification, and we have not hired an auditor to issue a conformance statement.
The first control on every page is “Skip to content.” It becomes visible when focused. Each page has one h1. Sections use h2 and h3 in order. Guides are articles. Contact details sit in an address element in the footer.
The menu button, the guide list, the library filters, and the cookie controls are buttons or links you can reach with Tab. Escape closes the mobile menu. Focus is outlined in the page’s accent color. The guide menu uses a native disclosure so it works before JavaScript runs.
Body text is dark ink on a warm paper background. Accent colors are used for rules, numbers, and large type more often than for small type. You can enlarge text with the browser. Layouts wrap instead of requiring a horizontal scroll of the page.
A short rise animation runs on a few home-page elements. If your system asks for reduced motion, that animation is turned off. Photographs have text alternatives. Decorative logo marks that sit beside the word “evsalaryevee” have empty alt text so the name is not read twice.
We have not commissioned a formal WCAG audit. We aim at the practices in WCAG 2.2 Level AA, and we do not claim that every page meets every criterion. A diagram of a room on the measuring guide is marked so screen readers skip the drawing and use the table beside it. If a figure’s text alternative is thin, that is a fault to report.
The cookie banner is in the HTML but stays hidden until JavaScript shows it. Without JavaScript, the site does not store a preference and does not load advertising tags. A note for that case is in the page source.
Write to [email protected]. Name the page, what you were trying to do, and the browser or assistive tool you used. Weekday hours for a reply are 09:00–17:00 Eastern Time at the Plainview desk. You can also call (516) 586-5800.
We will reply with what we can change in the website. We cannot send someone to assemble furniture as an access accommodation, because the site does not provide that service. The contact page lists the other mailboxes if your note is about a guide rather than a barrier.
